Anyway, community importing is now live.

But like...practically no one's commented on my post on mccoy_and_kirk. However...the way the community importing is set up, it gives people an openid automatically, so the content is still their property.

So now I don't know what to do. Because it really would make my life, and the life of my volunteers a lot easier to just do an import. But I really don't want to upset anyone but importing stuff if they don't want it to be imported.

I don't know...I can't import the comments unless I do an actual import, and I would kind of really like to import the comments. Especially because of the meta discussions we have every week.

I have a week or two to decide this; I haven't paid for time for mc_and_k over here, and it's currently only available to paid accounts.

I say, why not? If folks get pissy, you can always remind them that you gave them the opportunity and the time to comment and tell you not to import their stuff. It's their fault for not taking the two seconds necessary to say, "Thanks, but no thanks."

Then again, it is the holiday season and a lot of folks are away from their computers right now, doing family/holiday things. Maybe make a reminder post after the new year and see if the responses pick up. :D

I think as cool as importing communities is, people still don't really know if they want to switch to DW or not, they're used to LJ (personally I'm still sticing to LJ more). But on the other hand, there are also people who just left LJ - and well, it's still December and people are busy, New Year, preparations and all.

You know, it's your comm, just import the stuff, I doubt people would mind, if they do, well, you gave them a chance to decide, right? If anything you can always post a reminder about this post or something...
