Chapter One

In the past day I've spent $100 on Nail Polish between Sephora.com, Ulta in person, and Ulta online. (In my defense, at Sephora if you spend $50 you get free shipping, and Butter London was buy two, get one free on Ulta.com.) Guys, I already have so much nail polish I never wear. Why am I doing this?

I will share what I bought though!

At Ulta in person, I bought Kiss Me on My Tulips (hot pink) and Nein! Nein! Nein! Okay Fine (a dark non-metallic gunmetal gray.)
On Ulta's website I bought Butter London in Slapper (eletric blue), Teddy Girl (pale baby neutral pink), and Shag (a coppery metallic red the color of fall leaves). I have never tried Butter London before so this is exciting!
On Sephora.com I bought Sephora by OPI's matte top coat, Sephora by OPI in A-Ha Moment! (bright white), Illamasqua in Scorn (matte black...I'm excited to try matte nail polish even though I hear it looks like crap after a day or two), Illamasqua in Radium (metallic lime green), and Sephora by OPI in Slushied (robin's egg blue).

I am trying to branch out and not just wear black/dark purple/everything by OPI all the time. I just had mustard yellow on my fingers (OPI's The "It" Color), and my friends in New York loved it. (Stupid thing started chipping after three days, which is weird because the place I go to normally takes a week to start chipping. Oh well.) I normally just buy OPI because I really like their polishes a lot, but I'm trying different brands. I'm staying high end, though, because it's my experience that with nail polish you get what you pay for. The cheap drug store brands chip like the day I put them on, but the nicer brands don't. Or maybe I'm just a big giant snobby-pants, who knows?

In other news, I got rear-ended at a stop light yesterday. I'm fine, my friend who was with me is fine, and the car has very very minimal damage to the back bumper. However...the dude drove off. He rear-ended me and we pulled into a parking lot. I told him I had called the police, as one does. He said "Oh I don't think we need to get them involved." I was like "Yes we do. You rear-ended me."

Like...I'm not stupid. If I don't have a police report number, I can't get his insurance to pay for the damage to my car. I've seen it happen to friends of mine where they didn't call the cops when they got hit and got screwed over. I'm not letting that happen.

Well I should have taken a picture of his license plate when he said that, because he waited for like two more minutes and then drove off before I could get one. I got the make and model of his car and his physical description. (He didn't even give me his name!) The cop had no choice but to file it as a hit and run. Good luck to you, buddy, when you get caught. Shit's a felony as opposed to a moving violation.

Popular theories as to why he ran: he has a bad driving record/lot of accidents or he was on drugs/had drugs in the car.

The important thing is that I'm fine and I only have two tiny scratches that need to be buffed out of my bumper. Progressive said it's unlikely my insurance will go up, but I need to double-check that with my claims adjuster on Monday.

Mostly I'm just pissed off that the dude ran. I rear-ended someone back in 2007 when it was raining, and like...I called the cops on myself. I don't understand why it's difficult to do the right thing in situations like this. Especially in North Carolina, because for fuck's sake when you get your court date, if you take them a certificate from your insurance saying the damages to the other person's car was paid for, you get off with no points on your license and not even having to pay court costs! WHY WOULD YOU NOT JUST DO THAT? Jesus Christ.

He had to have been high or something. It's the only thing that makes sense. Or driving illegally with no insurance. (In NC, you have to carry insurance to drive.) I just...why on Earth?

Oh. Also. Next Friday. Six days. Phoenix Invictus. Probably as soon as I get up that morning. Be here.

Some of you know this because I've done it in Word Wars, but a couple of weeks ago I started working on Phoenix again in earnest.

I have four scenes left and hit 40K tonight.

I HAVE FOUR SCENES LEFT AND HIT 40K TONIGHT.

And I didn't want to say anything lest I jinx myself after having to drop out last year, but I'll be done with it tomorrow. Which means I'll definitely have a draft by September 1st. Which means I have successfully completed Star Trek Big Bang for the first time.

Like I said, I've been keeping it quiet because I didn't want to jinx anything. But I've definitely made it!

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm getting drunk.

I don't know that I can get this done by September 1st.

Dark Phoenix is 62,000 and then some words alone. The prologue is 3,533. I have not even begun Phoenix yet. And I (finally) got a job this week, and school starts the 16th.

There's not enough time.

I just had to take a week off of writing, primarily because my dog hurt himself on his foot (we think it was a spider bite), the wound got infected, and I've had to keep him under surveillance and in the Cone of Shame (until he figured out how to get it off, lousy intelligent dog) ever since. The wound initially ulcerated, and I was very afraid he would lose his leg. He's fine now, and healing properly, but I just could not write while that was going on.

Also I found out that three and some change weeks doing nothing but writing is my limit. I was disgusted with being on the computer, so this past week I went offline in every way imaginable. And I feel much better, and reinvigorated, but taking an entire week off from writing has set me back.

I don't know that I can do this.

If I don't make it, I will still finish it. I've been waiting for two years to tell this story, and the time to tell it is now. Just getting that RD done for the 1st is looking less and less likely.

I hope this doesn't disappoint you guys too much.

So hypothetically speaking you have a character using technology to project himself into Bones' dreams as a method of conditioning him (IE brainwashing/mind control)?

Say in these dreams he has sex with Bones, and while this is happening Bones isn't outright saying no and shoving him off...but he's not entirely willing, either, because he's in a relationship with Jim and he feels like he's cheating on him with this guy, but he ends up giving in.

So...have a poll.

[Poll #1758299]

I'm not filtering this just to my Big Bang people because I kind of need a consensus.

I don't have much to say or a snippet, but I just need to vent for a moment.

Making the Hellfire Club a) exist in the AOS universe, b) exist in a way that makes sense in the AOS universe, c) exist in a way that makes sense without the existence of mutants because that is a can of worms I seriously do not wish to open in the AOS universe is like...some of the hardest writing I have ever done.

Also my inner...well and outer...feminist really rankles at the dress code. With the men it's all opulent fabrics and lush colors and coats, and breeches and with the women it's...corsets and stilettos. >.> THANKS COMICS.

No, Bones does not get to wear a corset. It's not that kind of fic.

Since embracing writing spoiler redacted Bones instead of superhero Bones, I've written 8,133 words. Part one of spoiler redacted Bones is done!

Now to just write the rest of it.

Also I have determined that spoiler redacted Bones' theme song is "Six Underground" by the Sneaker Pimps. Kickin' it like it's 1997 up in here!

Now to write part two and introduce the agent of spoiler redacted Bones' spoiler redacted.

...I'd post a snippet but it won't make much sense...

Oh what the hell...I'll post one anyways. Text in slashes like //this// denote telepathic communication.

Just a short one. )

...I'm wondering if I should do my own mix for this fic. I have two songs strongly tied to scenes in this story now, and like...I don't know how okay it is for me to tell my mixer to put them on there. For those curious, the songs are Six Underground for...fuck it, I'll just say it...Dark Phoenix Bones (specifically "Don't think 'cause I understand I care///Don't think 'cause I'm talking we're friends") and Black and Gold by Sam Sparro for when Bones saves the universe. ("If you're not really here//then the stars don't even matter//Now I'm filled with the top to fear//that it's all just a bunch of matter//If you're not really here//then I don't want to be either//I want to be next to you, black and gold, black and gold...")

I have never done Big Bang before so I don't know how this works. :C
ken_ichijouji: (so cute // kirk/bones)
I finished the prologue to my big bang, and it's at 3,523 words. So now I can concentrate on the eighty other WiPs I'm working on. Hooray!

Speaking of, if I make a filter for my Big Bang, would anyone want to be on it? I may or may not be posting snippets, crying a lot, or drinking heavily on it.
