So remember how when I posted the big wedding fic, aka "To the End (La Comedie)", I announced that it was the last major and plot-driven Water park fic?

...

..........

..............................

Yeah. I don't want to say I was lying, because it was honest at the time? But I may have been premature.

Thanks for the giant plot bunny, Iron Man 3!

Ahem.

Thank you. You may now return to your nachos.

Why is there no music video of Kirk hitting on Uhura and Uhura and Spock being together to Positive K's seminal 90s hit, "I've Got a Man"?

Because seriously, if ever there should be a music video of the three of them from the 09 movie, it should be set to that song. I can't make music videos, so obviously I can't do it myself. If I was rich, I'd commission someone to. Because yes and also hilarious.

Well, mostly, I've been job hunting and writing. I have fic to post, actually, if I can stop being super lazy about editing it. Maybe I'll do that today. :)

But anyways, have a meme! The first line from my last 21 fics. )

***GossipTrek was omitted because the meme was about the first line of the fic itself, not the first line of new chapters. I started writing it a really long time ago, so it didn't make this list.***

Things that this meme taught me; I start with Jim's POV a lot, I apparently never open with dialogue, and sometimes I am borderline ridiculously vauge tantalizing in how I build suspense and intrigue with an opening line. ^_~ And yeah, I cheated a little on 17, but if I had kept it at just the stardate no one would have any clue what fic I was talking about. (I've only written one fic with official memos.)

In the past day I've spent $100 on Nail Polish between Sephora.com, Ulta in person, and Ulta online. (In my defense, at Sephora if you spend $50 you get free shipping, and Butter London was buy two, get one free on Ulta.com.) Guys, I already have so much nail polish I never wear. Why am I doing this?

I will share what I bought though!

At Ulta in person, I bought Kiss Me on My Tulips (hot pink) and Nein! Nein! Nein! Okay Fine (a dark non-metallic gunmetal gray.)
On Ulta's website I bought Butter London in Slapper (eletric blue), Teddy Girl (pale baby neutral pink), and Shag (a coppery metallic red the color of fall leaves). I have never tried Butter London before so this is exciting!
On Sephora.com I bought Sephora by OPI's matte top coat, Sephora by OPI in A-Ha Moment! (bright white), Illamasqua in Scorn (matte black...I'm excited to try matte nail polish even though I hear it looks like crap after a day or two), Illamasqua in Radium (metallic lime green), and Sephora by OPI in Slushied (robin's egg blue).

I am trying to branch out and not just wear black/dark purple/everything by OPI all the time. I just had mustard yellow on my fingers (OPI's The "It" Color), and my friends in New York loved it. (Stupid thing started chipping after three days, which is weird because the place I go to normally takes a week to start chipping. Oh well.) I normally just buy OPI because I really like their polishes a lot, but I'm trying different brands. I'm staying high end, though, because it's my experience that with nail polish you get what you pay for. The cheap drug store brands chip like the day I put them on, but the nicer brands don't. Or maybe I'm just a big giant snobby-pants, who knows?

In other news, I got rear-ended at a stop light yesterday. I'm fine, my friend who was with me is fine, and the car has very very minimal damage to the back bumper. However...the dude drove off. He rear-ended me and we pulled into a parking lot. I told him I had called the police, as one does. He said "Oh I don't think we need to get them involved." I was like "Yes we do. You rear-ended me."

Like...I'm not stupid. If I don't have a police report number, I can't get his insurance to pay for the damage to my car. I've seen it happen to friends of mine where they didn't call the cops when they got hit and got screwed over. I'm not letting that happen.

Well I should have taken a picture of his license plate when he said that, because he waited for like two more minutes and then drove off before I could get one. I got the make and model of his car and his physical description. (He didn't even give me his name!) The cop had no choice but to file it as a hit and run. Good luck to you, buddy, when you get caught. Shit's a felony as opposed to a moving violation.

Popular theories as to why he ran: he has a bad driving record/lot of accidents or he was on drugs/had drugs in the car.

The important thing is that I'm fine and I only have two tiny scratches that need to be buffed out of my bumper. Progressive said it's unlikely my insurance will go up, but I need to double-check that with my claims adjuster on Monday.

Mostly I'm just pissed off that the dude ran. I rear-ended someone back in 2007 when it was raining, and like...I called the cops on myself. I don't understand why it's difficult to do the right thing in situations like this. Especially in North Carolina, because for fuck's sake when you get your court date, if you take them a certificate from your insurance saying the damages to the other person's car was paid for, you get off with no points on your license and not even having to pay court costs! WHY WOULD YOU NOT JUST DO THAT? Jesus Christ.

He had to have been high or something. It's the only thing that makes sense. Or driving illegally with no insurance. (In NC, you have to carry insurance to drive.) I just...why on Earth?

Oh. Also. Next Friday. Six days. Phoenix Invictus. Probably as soon as I get up that morning. Be here.

Some of you know this because I've done it in Word Wars, but a couple of weeks ago I started working on Phoenix again in earnest.

I have four scenes left and hit 40K tonight.

I HAVE FOUR SCENES LEFT AND HIT 40K TONIGHT.

And I didn't want to say anything lest I jinx myself after having to drop out last year, but I'll be done with it tomorrow. Which means I'll definitely have a draft by September 1st. Which means I have successfully completed Star Trek Big Bang for the first time.

Like I said, I've been keeping it quiet because I didn't want to jinx anything. But I've definitely made it!

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm getting drunk.

Ugh.

North Carolina, I normally love you but right now all I want to do is set you on fire. But I won't. Because I keep my shit here, and that's just awkward.

In other news, HI. I got all As except an Incomplete in Spanish that will be taken care of pretty quickly. (Before June 3rd, actually, because I need to register on the 4th.) My creative writing professor told me I should take a fiction writing workshop or class at NC State, which is high praise because he never likes anything. I may post my two stories here under flock now that the class is over.

Anyways, NC sucks and my parents arrive tomorrow because my birthday is Thursday. Also I am getting a new-to-me car. I need to take pictures in Emma before she goes away. ;_;

HAVE A GOOD NIGHT!

Except you, backwater hillbillies of North Carolina.

You can all go hang.

Okay, so I purposely waited to announce this until I listened to it first and made sure I didn't come across like a massive tool (I don't, but as always I feel I suffer from a case of stuffed up horrible voice disease), but I was interviewed for Slashcast in their Meta Chat segment. It's also available for free on iTunes, which is how I'm listening to it currently.

The topic for this month was "crack," which is why I was hand-chosen or some shit. :D

Anyways, the first few parts are super interesting (they are! Sherlock premiere party at SXSW! Twilight fan author with her head on straight! Scintillating discussion of MPREG!), but if you're pressed for time my bit starts at about an hour and five minutes into it. So yes, now you will all know how horrible I sound. Part of my fiendish plans all along mwa ha ha.

In conclusion: Slashcast rules, I am super honored to have been a part of it, this month's is hilarious, I have a Tom Collins, and shit's awesome. The end.

From all...one of you, I've imported my Star Trek fics to my AO3 account.

They are found here! So now you can put them on your iPhones or whatever fancy thing you kids do these days. Hook a sister up on how to do that, jeeze.

I admit I don't know much about their system, I just know the interface is incredibly smooth and user-friendly.

So apparently I am awesome enough to be featured in this week's author spotlight over at [livejournal.com profile] jim_and_bones. (I almost typed jam and Bones. I guess Jim could eat the jam off Bones, although Bones would probably bitch about it being too sticky.)

Anyways, the post is here. The community is flocked, though, as a head's up, but it's a super fun community full of hot pictures of Jim and Bones and tons of fanfic from challenges. [livejournal.com profile] sangueuk runs a really fun ship. Totally worth it!

I'm still so super flattered and amazed that people like my writing enough to ask that I be interviewed.

Hooray!
